"I Can't afford to go to the dentist."
We hear all the time from patients comments like, "I haven't been in for a while, I didn't have dental insurance." Well, here is some food for thought. Your employer was likely taking $30-$50 out of your paycheck each month to help pay for your dental insurance. Now, here is a look at how much routine visits cost: exam every 6 months about $40 x-rays every year about$110 Cleaning every 2 months about $85 Cost per year = $360; cost per month $30 Saving as little as $1 a day would pay for your routine dental care for the year. Admittedly, many people require the occasional filling, crown or root canal therapy, these can be comparatively expensive but again, if you are keeping your routine visits we can usually foresee major expenses allowing you time to save for them. From the Delta Dental web page:
Q. What are the benefits of visiting a network dentist? A. When you visit a network dentist, you'll enjoy the following benefits:
Q. Can I visit a non-participating dentist? A. Many of our plans allow you to visit any dentist you choose, while others require you to visit a network dentist in order to receive benefits. However, even for plans that do allow subscribers to visit out-of-network dentists, services performed by out-of-network dentists are covered at a lower benefit level and out-of-pocket costs may be higher. Overall, subscribers receive the greatest value when they visit a participating dentist. Food for thought: Just because a dentist is "in network" does not mean they will be cheaper. There are a lot of things that factor in here. For example: They have contracted to charge less. Who here thinks the dentist is just accepting less money? |
